Tara Mathew’s pop song, Christmas Present, carries a Christian message, but is written to appeal to a wide variety of audiences with its catchy melody.
And as well as hoping to sell enough copies, she’s planning to give up her royalties for BBC charity Children in Need.
Tara, who sang at the opening of the Canada Games as well as many other official Canadian government events, is also planning an attempt to set a record.
She will be appearing at Exeter City’s home game against Brighton on December 5 and wants the whole crowd to wish each other a merry Christmas.
Tara said: “We hope this will set a record of the largest gathering of people to say merry Christmas at once.”
The singing sensation added that the fans of both teams would be urged to take part in raising funds for Children in Need at the same time.
She said: “I am launching the single in aid of the appeal with all my royalties going to the charity.
During half-time I’ll be singing the song and there will be a collection for the charity.
“But for those who can’t go, they can buy the single and that will help boost Children in Need funds.”
The single is released on November 30, but it can be pre-ordered at shops or even by text!
Text ‘taram’ to 78789, and you’ll be given a link to download the song after the release date. The CD will also be available from leading record stores such as HMV, or on download sites such as iTunes and Amazon.
Tara is in the UK to record her debut album. She added: “I’ve been a Christian for many years and want to spread the love of God through the single.
“My album will also use pop music as a medium to spread God’s word in a contemporary way.”
